Once you have the coffee beans ready, it is time to grind them. There are different sizes of coffee powder, but we recommend fine grind for Leverpresso. Tips: Using fine grind, or the "espresso" setting would allow for enough pressure to build up for beautiful crema. Tamping Technique The ground beans should be added to the stainless steel portafilter basket and followed by tamping. The tamping, or leveling and flattening of the coffee grounds, is a very important step to getting good crema and flavorful espresso. Tips: Leverpresso comes with a plastic tamper, which can be used to apply pressure anywhere between 19 - 20 kg to the ground coffee, or you could also use a 51 mm tamper of your choice. Extraction Time The time of the extraction is important for the espresso. Slowly lower the levers for anywhere between 5 - 30 seconds for best results. Tips: You should feel the pressure in your palms as you extract the espresso, but the levers should not go down too quickly, or feel "stuck". If that is the case, then check the size of the coffee grounds or the tamping. Proper Storage Clean your Leverpresso thoroughly after use and store it safely for long-term use of the product.
